Seat Swap

The seats used in the full size cherokees were never very comfortable and don't recline. My original seats were in pretty good shape until the drivers seat broke. That was the excuse Ii was looking for to get some new seats. After market seats go for around $200 each which is a bit pricey for my taste. So off to the junkyard I went. I found two front seats (captains chairs) from a mid 80's full size bronco. $60 for the seats from the junkyard and a little elbow grease to clean them and I'm stoked. I can't believe how easy it was to put them in my cherokee.. The sliders and risers from my 83 cherokee bolted right on to the bronco seats- no fabricating or drilling required. Then all I had to do was bolt them back in. The risers were slightly off so I had to muscle them onto the studs to bolt them down but that was no big deal. Unfortunately the seats don't tilt forward enough to let passengers into the back but I can live with that. . I do have the bracket from the bronco passenger seat that allows it to partly detach and tilt forward but that will take a bit of fabricating on my part. For now I'm happy leaving it as is.
